Ergodos Musicians present material from their critically acclaimed ‘Songs’ project, along with brand new versions of arias by Baroque master G.F. Handel, as part of Dublin’s MusicTown festival at 8pm on April 14 in The Little Museum of Dublin.
When we think of music, we think of songs. They are, perhaps, the most accessible musical template. The Ergodos Musicians ‘Songs’ project is a celebration of this unifying form. Working closely with vocalist Michelle O’Rourke, reed player Seán Mac Erlaine and cellist Kate Ellis, composers Garrett Sholdice and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly have arranged, re-composed, weaved and stitched material drawn from the songs they love. For this MusicTown performance, the group will premiere new versions of Handel arias – versions which amplify the direct connection between this Baroque master and contemporary pop music. The audience will be able to experience these in the apt Georgian surroundings of the Little Museum of Dublin on Stephen’s Green, as well as versions of songs by John Dowland, Antonio Vivaldi, Richard Thompson and The xx, as featured on the acclaimed Ergodos Musicians album, Songs.
