Ergodos Musicians hit the road from 3 to 11 February, bringing the celebrated Songs project to seven venues around Ireland, presented by Music Network.
“Nothing could better exemplify the continued vitality of the song tradition,” wrote the Irish Times about the music that will reach Dundrum, Carrick-on-Shannon, Clifden, Carlow, Bray, Tralee and Waterford.
“The eclectic set-list spans some 800 years, crossing and blending traditions in a way that is both thoughtful and provocative,” writes Michael Lee in GoldenPlec. Michelle O’Rourke (voice), Kate Ellis (cello), Seán Mac Erlaine (saxophone/bass clarinet), Garrett Sholdice (synthesiser) and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly (guitar) delve into such diverse sources as medieval hymns, Baroque opera, traditional Irish song, contemporary pop and 1970s folk rock.
Ergodos Musicians will also be in studio with RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena at 7pm on Wednesday, 3 February, performing two favourite numbers from the Songs project.
