Toner Quinn is to give the Francis Roche Memorial Lecture at the Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Song this year. The lecture, held at the University of Limerick on 25 June, is titled ‘The Thin Green Line: On Writing About Traditional Irish Music’, and will draw on Quinn’s experiences as a fiddle player and as a music writer and publisher of The Journal of Music.
The summer school takes place in Limerick from 23 June to 4 July 2014, combining tuition as well as performances from some of the most outstanding living Irish traditional musicians, singers and dancers. Part of the ethos of the summer school is that ‘performance and reflection are seen as equal of stature and mutually beneficial’.
