On Thursday 29 January 2015 in The Little Museum of Dublin, fiddle player Toner Quinn will perform our first Santa Rita Concert of 2015. Quinn will present material from a broad repertoire of traditional Irish tunes, as well as a number of new original compositions – revealing new perspectives on an old language.
In 2013 Quinn released a fiddle duet album with Malachy Bourke, Live at the Steeple Sessions, which was selected as one of the Irish Times’ traditional music albums of the year. Siobhán Long described the album as “…a distilled delight…” Not only is he a highly original voice in traditional Irish fiddle music, Quinn is also the pioneering founder of the multi-award winning Journal of Music (formerly JMI: The Journal of Music in Ireland).
The Santa Rita Concerts series has proven itself as a very special addition to Dublin cultural life, and it’s the perfect platform for Quinn’s beautifully introspective music.
Each evening in the series begins at 7pm with a Santa Rita wine reception and pre-concert interview with the performer in the museum’s main Georgian drawing room space. The candlelit performance then begins at 8pm sharp in the ground floor gallery space, which looks out on St. Stephen’s Green.
A unique and intimate format – the perfect way to spend a cold winter evening!
